Founded in 1848 in Switzerland, Omega has become one of the world's best-known watch brands. Omega produced high-quality wristwatches during the 1950s, 60s, and 70s. Renowned for its precision and craftsmanship, Omega also created exquisite pocket watches in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, enhancing its reputation as a premier watchmaker.

This Omega timepiece, manufactured in Switzerland and completed in 1908, was specifically designed to compete with American railroad watches. As a railroad chronometer, it meets all the specifications required for use on the rails in the United States during the early 1900s. The watch is powered by a 19-jewel in-house Omega movement, featuring a jeweled motor barrel—a detail typically seen in American watches, reflecting Omega's attempt to attract U.S. consumers. The movement is adorned with beautifully decorated ratchet and crown wheels, an intricately designed balance, and an exposed center wheel. It has been restored and custom refinished with blue accents, achieved by thermally treating each iron component by hand. The hands have also been restored to a deep blue hue using the same heat treatment process. The flawless porcelain-enamel dial features bold Arabic numerals and is styled like a typical railroad-grade watch dial.

The timepiece is housed in a new pocket watch case with a see-through case back. As a railroad chronometer, it is lever-set, and the front bezel easily unscrews to access the setting lever. The timepiece comes fully serviced and ready for your next adventure. In keeping with our dedication to preserving history, the original 20-year gold-filled pocket watch case is also included.
