American Waltham Watch Co. was in operation from 1852-1957 and was an American pocket watch manufacturer. Manufacturing of Waltham watches took place at their facility in Waltham, Massachusetts.

Completed in 1898 in Waltham, Massachusetts, this timepiece features a porcelain-enamel dial adorned with inlaid jewels. The outer minute track, typically rendered in black, instead features vibrant green gems at each five-minute interval—a detail unlike anything we have encountered. Elegant Arabic numerals sit just inside each jewel, framed by a circular golden motif that adds depth and symmetry. The Waltham signature, written in a mix of bold and cursive styles, creates a dynamic visual balance. The hands were restored to a rich iridescent blue, offering striking contrast against the white porcelain-enamel surface. Together, the dial’s palette of green, black, gold, blue, and white creates a composition of extraordinary visual harmony—one truly unlike any other we have seen. Beneath this remarkable face lies Waltham’s 15-jewel Seaside movement, produced between 1896 and 1912. The movement features an exposed mainspring barrel, intricate damaskeening, and hand-polished jewel settings, gear train, and balance components—all restored to their original brilliance. Each screw and piece of hardware was thermally blued by hand over an open flame, a traditional process that enhances both beauty and corrosion resistance (read more here). Encased in our 40 mm stainless-steel case, this 1898 Waltham stands as a tribute to early American craftsmanship—a seamless intersection of artistry and engineering, preserved and revived more than 125 years after its creation.

The timepiece is housed in our surgical-grade 316L stainless steel conversion case with a 40 mm diameter—offering one of the best fits for any conversion available. The case includes both caseback and crown gaskets, providing water resistance up to 50 meters, though it is recommended to remove the watch before engaging in water activities. The watch comes fully serviced and ready for your next adventure.
