American Waltham Watch Co. was in operation from 1852-1957 and was an American pocket watch manufacturer. Manufacturing of Waltham watches took place at their facility in Waltham, Massachusetts.

The porcelain-enamel dial on this 1907 Waltham was custom made for E.B. Horn Co., one of Boston’s oldest and most historic jewelers. Founded in 1839, E.B. Horn Co. remains in business to this day nearly two centuries later, making this piece a historic collaboration between two icons of American craftsmanship from the early 1900s. That added layer of history gives this piece an identity far beyond a typical production Waltham. The dial itself is simply incredible, featuring a warm cream-colored surface, a crisp white sub-seconds register, and golden circular accents around the perimeter with larger markers at each five-minute interval. The original Louis XIV hands provide exceptional contrast against the dial while adding an extra level of elegance to the presentation. Beneath the dial is Waltham’s Grade No. 165, a 15-jewel movement produced between 1907 and 1917, making this example one of the earliest ever manufactured. The movement is known for its elegant damaskeening, raised jewel settings, and beautiful snailing on the ratchet and crown wheels. Screws and steel hardware were thermally blued using traditional methods to improve corrosion resistance while adding depth and contrast (read more here). The jewel settings, gear train, balance, and balance weights were individually hand polished to restore their original golden tone. Altogether, this is an exceptional example of an early 1900s Waltham timepiece, elevated even further by its connection to a historic Boston jeweler that has remained continuously in business since before the Civil War. American conversions can now be compact, low profile, and genuinely dress oriented. At just 36 mm, this piece carries the styling and proportions of a modern dress watch while preserving the character of a vintage American movement.

Housed in our 36 mm conversion case, this timepiece is designed to preserve the elegance of its vintage aesthetic while offering the refined proportions of a modern dress watch. Crafted from surgical-grade 316L stainless steel, the case features both caseback and crown gaskets for enhanced durability and water resistance up to 50 meters (though we recommend removing the watch before water activities). At just 36 mm across with a slim profile, the case wears compact, elegant, and exceptionally comfortable on the wrist. Every piece is fully serviced, meticulously tested, and built for reliable everyday wear.
