Elgin National Watch Co. was in operation from 1864-1968 and was an American pocket watch manufacturer. Manufacturing of Elgin watches took place at their facility in Elgin, Illinois.
The Elgin porcelain-enamel dial is the highlight of this piece. A light blue center radiates outward, framed by elegant silver flourishes that also surround each Arabic numeral, creating an aesthetic unlike any other. The minute track features inverted triangles at every 15-minute interval with bold numerals every five minutes. Despite the richness of its decoration, the dial remains highly legible, refined, and beautifully proportioned. Original golden Louis XIV-style hands add another layer of elegant detail. Completed in 1905, this watch represents one of the earliest examples of Elgin's Grade 295, a movement produced between 1904 and 1921. The Grade 295 is distinguished by its geometric-patterned mainspring barrel and gilt jewel settings. Every component of the movement was restored by hand in our Little Rock, Arkansas workshop. The screws and steel hardware were thermally blued over an open flame to enhance both contrast and corrosion resistance (read more here). The jewel settings, gear train, balance, and balance screws were individually polished to restore their original golden finish. Taken together, the early Grade 295 movement, captivating blue porcelain-enamel dial, and original Louis XIV hands make this piece both a mechanical standout and an artistic showcase of early twentieth-century American watchmaking.

Crafted from surgical-grade 316L stainless steel, the case features both caseback and crown gaskets for enhanced durability and water resistance up to 50 meters (though we recommend removing the watch before water activities).
