American Waltham Watch Co. was in operation from 1852-1957 and was an American pocket watch manufacturer. Manufacturing of Waltham watches took place at their facility in Waltham, Massachusetts.

This timepiece marks the official debut of our 40 mm Heritage Bronze conversion case—expertly machined from solid bronze containing 93% copper. The alloy’s warm, rose-gold undertones will gradually evolve with wear, developing a rich natural patina that makes each piece entirely unique. From its coined-edge bezel to the precisely proportioned lugs and bronze crown, every surface has been designed to acquire its own character over time, creating a living finish that tells the story of its wearer. To commemorate the release of this case, we paired it with a restored Waltham movement completed in 1899 in Waltham, Massachusetts—the final year of the 1800s. The 15-jewel movement features an exposed mainspring barrel and striking damaskeening that reflects light dynamically across the plates. Every component has been carefully restored: screws and hardware were thermally blued by hand over an open flame—a traditional technique that hardens the metal while imparting deep, iridescent tones (read more here)—while the jewel settings, gear train, balance, and balance weights were each hand-polished to revive their original golden luster. The porcelain-enamel railroad dial remains in remarkable condition, featuring bold Arabic numerals, a crisp outer minute track, and the original Waltham signature at center. The result is a cohesive pairing of 19th-century American craftsmanship and modern engineering—an antique movement reborn in bronze, ready to evolve beautifully with time and wear.

The movement is set in a custom 40 mm conversion case crafted from solid bronze. This size offers a balanced fit on the wrist, making it one of the most versatile proportions available in any conversion. The case is built with crown and caseback gaskets, tested to 50 meters of water resistance, though removal before swimming or showering is recommended. Fully serviced and regulated, this watch is ready for years of reliable wear and appreciation.
