American Waltham Watch Co. was in operation from 1852-1957 and was an American pocket watch manufacturer. Manufacturing of Waltham watches took place at their facility in Waltham, Massachusetts.

Waltham pocket watch conversion

Completed in 1900 in Waltham, Massachusetts, this timepiece represents one of the highest-grade Waltham movements compatible with our 40 mm case. The multichromatic jeweled porcelain-enamel dial is in exceptional condition, free of chips, cracks, and hairlines, and preserved in virtually the same condition as when it left the factory more than a century ago. The bold Arabic numerals are rendered in the classic American railroad style, while elegant golden motifs encircle the inner portion of the dial. The Waltham signature appears in both cursive and block lettering, an uncommon detail that adds to the dial's distinctive character. Perhaps the most remarkable feature is the minute track, where individual red rubies are set at each five-minute interval. Jeweled dials preserved in nearly flawless condition are exceptionally rare in vintage American watchmaking, making this example particularly remarkable. The original golden Louis XIV hands provide beautiful contrast against the bright white enamel, creating a display that is both highly legible and visually elegant.

Waltham pocket watch conversion

Beneath the dial beats Waltham's Model 1890, a 16-jewel movement produced between 1898 and 1915. It features an exposed mainspring barrel and finely executed damaskeening that reflects light beautifully. In our workshop in Little Rock, Arkansas, every component was meticulously restored. The jewel chatons, gear train, balance weights, and balance were individually hand polished to restore their original brilliance. Each screw and steel component, including the arbor and regulator, were thermally blued by hand over an open flame—a traditional process that improves corrosion resistance while creating a rich blue finish that contrasts beautifully against the movement (read more here).

The timepiece is housed in our 40 mm surgical-grade 316L stainless steel conversion case, designed for one of the best fits available in any conversion. Engineered with both caseback and crown gaskets, it offers water resistance up to 50 meters (though it is recommended to remove the watch before water activities). Fully serviced and carefully inspected, this watch is ready for your next adventure.
