American Waltham Watch Co. was in operation from 1852-1957 and was an American pocket watch manufacturer. Manufacturing of Waltham watches took place at their facility in Waltham, Massachusetts.
This multichromatic porcelain enamel dial is nothing short of spectacular. At the center is a dual script signature with “American” in all caps and “Waltham” in elegant cursive. It is a mash up of two distinct styles that comes together remarkably well. The inner dial features a circular blue geometric motif accented by delicate golden stars. Elegant Arabic numerals are highlighted by golden circles, while the outer minute track carries matching accents at every five minute interval. The more you look, the more you see. Tying it all together, the original golden Louis XIV hands echo the tones of the dial while providing sharp contrast against the bright white porcelain enamel. Beneath the dial is Waltham’s 16 jewel Model 1890 movement, produced between 1898 and 1915. This caliber features an exposed mainspring barrel and richly executed Geneva stripe damaskeening throughout. Every component was carefully refinished in our Little Rock, Arkansas workshop. Screws and steel hardware were thermally blued by hand over an open flame, improving corrosion resistance while adding subtle visual contrast (read more here). The jewel settings, gear train, balance, and balance weights were individually hand polished to restore their original golden sheen. The result is an exceptional piece, pairing a truly one of a kind multichromatic dial with one of the finest smaller profile movements Waltham ever produced.
The timepiece is housed in a surgical-grade 316L stainless steel conversion case with a 40 mm diameter—offering one of the best fits for any conversion available. The case includes both caseback and crown gaskets, providing water resistance up to 50 meters, though it is recommended to remove the watch before engaging in water activities. The watch comes fully serviced and ready for your next adventure.
