American Waltham Watch Co. was in operation from 1852-1957 and was an American pocket watch manufacturer. Manufacturing of Waltham watches took place at their facility in Waltham, Massachusetts.

The Waltham dial on this piece from 1901 is in excellent condition with bold Arabic numerals, a clean minute track in red, and balanced proportions that make it exceptionally easy to read. The result is a strong railroad aesthetic that exemplifies the clarity and functionality expected of a railroad design. The steel hands have not been restored and feature their original heat blue hue applied by Waltham at the time of manufacture. The contrast against the bright white enamel of the dial is striking and enhances legibility. Beneath the dial is Walthams 15 jewel Seaside grade, which was produced between 1896 and 1912. The movement features an exposed mainspring barrel and richly executed Geneva stripe damaskeening. Every component was carefully refinished in our Little Rock, Arkansas workshop. Screws and steel hardware were thermally blued by hand using a traditional open flame technique, improving corrosion resistance while adding subtle visual contrast (read more here). The jewel settings, gear train, balance, and balance weights were individually hand polished to restore their original golden sheen.

The timepiece is housed in a surgical-grade 316L stainless steel conversion case with a 40 mm diameter—offering one of the best fits for any conversion available. The case includes both caseback and crown gaskets, providing water resistance up to 50 meters, though it is recommended to remove the watch before engaging in water activities. The watch comes fully serviced and ready for your next adventure.
