American Waltham Watch Co. was in operation from 1852-1957 and was an American pocket watch manufacturer. Manufacturing of Waltham watches took place at their facility in Waltham, Massachusetts.
Our Heritage Bronze conversion case is precision-machined from solid bronze containing 93% copper. The alloy’s warm, rose-gold undertones will gradually evolve with wear, developing a rich natural patina that makes each piece unique. From its coined-edge bezel to the proportioned lugs and bronze crown, every surface has been designed to acquire character over time—creating a living finish that tells the story of its wearer. Housed within is Waltham’s 15-jewel Seaside movement, produced between 1896 and 1912. The movement features an exposed mainspring barrel and intricate damaskeening. We hand-polished each jewel setting, gear train, and balance component to restore their original golden brilliance. Every screw and hardware element was thermally blued by hand over an open flame (read more here)—a traditional process that enhances both color and corrosion resistance. The porcelain-enamel railroad dial remains in remarkable condition, featuring bold Arabic numerals, a crisp outer minute track, and the original Waltham signature at center. The hands were fully restored and thermally blued to provide crisp contrast against the white porcelain-enamel dial and the warm bronze case. Together, the dial and movement embody the artistry of early American watchmaking, now reimagined in bronze—a fusion of heritage and modern craftsmanship, ready to evolve beautifully with time and wear.
The movement is set in a custom 40 mm conversion case crafted from solid bronze. This size offers a balanced fit on the wrist, making it one of the most versatile proportions available in any conversion. The case is built with crown and caseback gaskets, tested to 50 meters of water resistance, though removal before swimming or showering is recommended. Fully serviced and regulated, this watch is ready for years of reliable wear and appreciation.
