American Waltham Watch Co. was in operation from 1852-1957 and was an American pocket watch manufacturer. Manufacturing of Waltham watches took place at their facility in Waltham, Massachusetts.
This Waltham timepiece was crafted in Waltham, Massachusetts, and completed in 1892. It houses Waltham’s 11-jewel Grade L—a movement produced from 1890 to 1902. The movement features 11 jewels, an exposed gear train, and an incredible gilt finish. The blued movement accents are original and completed by Waltham at the time of manufacture. This type of thermal blue movement finish inspired us to pursue and perfect this traditional watchmaking technique that enhances both corrosion resistance and visual appeal (read more here). The jewel settings, gear train, balance, and balance weights were individually hand-polished to restore their original golden sheen. The original heat-blued hands remain unrestored. The Waltham porcelain-enamel dial is in near-flawless condition and features an incredibly elegant design. The Roman numerals provide a striking aesthetic, and the dial is lined with minute markers along the perimeter. Although we have restored pocket watches that are even older, this is one of the oldest American conversions we have completed—and one of the most striking.
The timepiece is housed in a surgical-grade 316L stainless steel conversion case with a 40 mm diameter—offering one of the best fits for any conversion available. The case includes both caseback and crown gaskets, providing water resistance up to 50 meters, though it is recommended to remove the watch before engaging in water activities. The watch comes fully serviced and ready for your next adventure.
