American Waltham Watch Co. was in operation from 1852-1957 and was an American pocket watch manufacturer. Manufacturing of Waltham watches took place at their facility in Waltham, Massachusetts.

Crafted in Waltham, Massachusetts in 1899, this timepiece features a true railroad style porcelain enamel dial, built to meet the stringent standards of Americas golden age of rail travel. This is our favorite dial style, hands down. The clarity, symmetry, and purposeful design represent American watchmaking at its peak. Bold Arabic numerals deliver immediate legibility, while the red outer minute track and precisely positioned sub seconds register allow for rapid, accurate reading in any lighting or weather conditions. These were essential features for conductors and engineers responsible for keeping American trains on schedule. Inside beats Walthams 16 jewel Model 1890 movement, produced between 1898 and 1915. Distinguished by its exposed mainspring barrel and dramatic damaskeening, the movement captures light with impressive depth and texture. Every component has been meticulously refinished. Screws and steel hardware were thermally blued by hand over an alcohol lamp (read more here), and the jewel settings, gear train, balance, and balance weights were individually hand polished to restore their warm golden tone. The original hands were carefully polished to a mirror finish to remove corrosion, then re blued by hand using traditional open flame thermal coloring. The result is a deep iridescent blue that contrasts sharply against the white enamel dial. The combination of a period correct railroad dial, restored movement, and freshly re blued hands makes this watch a striking example of American horology, built for precision and made to endure.

The timepiece is housed in our 40 mm surgical-grade 316L stainless steel conversion case, designed for one of the best fits available in any conversion. Engineered with both caseback and crown gaskets, it offers water resistance up to 50 meters (though it is recommended to remove the watch before water activities). Fully serviced and carefully inspected, this watch is ready for your next adventure.
