American Waltham Watch Co. was in operation from 1852-1957 and was an American pocket watch manufacturer. Manufacturing of Waltham watches took place at their facility in Waltham, Massachusetts.

This Waltham is powered by the PS Bartlett grade—common in larger formats but extraordinarily rare in this size. Only 3,700 were produced, making it one of the scarcest small-format PS Bartlett variants Waltham manufactured. This example dates to 1902, placing it not only in the first year of production but in the very first run, a detail that firmly anchors it among the rarest early-century Waltham examples. The movement showcases an exposed mainspring barrel and a nickel finish decorated with elegant damaskeening, the engine-turned pattern that brings the plates to life as they shift in the light. Every surface was restored with careful, traditional handcraft: screws and hardware were thermally blued over an open flame (read more here), and the jewel settings, gear train, balance, and balance weights were individually hand-polished to return their original golden brilliance. The porcelain-enamel dial is equally compelling—crisp Roman numerals, vivid red minute markers around the perimeter, and a flowing Waltham signature in cursive script. Its clean proportions and sharp detailing pair perfectly with the restored movement beneath. To complete the period-correct aesthetic, the hands were re-blued using slow, controlled thermal coloring to achieve a deep, even tone against the bright enamel. A first-run production year, an exceptionally scarce movement grade in this size, and a fully hand-restored finish all combine to create a piece that sits at the very top of early-1900s Waltham rarity.

The timepiece is housed in a surgical-grade 316L stainless steel conversion case with a 40 mm diameter—offering one of the best fits for any conversion available. The case includes both caseback and crown gaskets, providing water resistance up to 50 meters, though it is recommended to remove the watch before engaging in water activities. The watch comes fully serviced and ready for your next adventure.
