Elgin National Watch Co. was in operation from 1864-1968 and was an American pocket watch manufacturer. Manufacturing of Elgin watches took place at their facility in Elgin, Illinois.

This Elgin timepiece features a flawless porcelain enamel dial free of chips or cracks in the classic railroad style. The outer track displays red minute markers in five minute increments, while the bold indices reinforce legibility at a glance. The heat blued hands were fully restored by first polishing corrosion to a mirror finish and then individually heating each hand to achieve an iridescent blue hue. The result is striking contrast against the bright white porcelain enamel and the iconic aesthetic vintage American watchmaking is known for. Beneath the dial beats Elgin’s 15 jewel Grade 314 movement, produced in the early 1900s between 1904 and 1928. A true work of art, the movement features richly decorated ratchet and crown wheels along with bold damaskeening. Every component was carefully refinished in our Little Rock, Arkansas workshop. Blue accents were applied to the screws and steel hardware by hand over an alcohol lamp using a traditional open flame technique that improves corrosion resistance while adding subtle visual contrast (read more here). The jewel settings, gear train, balance, and balance weights were individually hand polished to restore their original golden sheen.

The timepiece is housed in a our 316L surgical-grade stainless steel conversion case with adjustable lugs that make winding and setting effortless while ensuring a comfortable fit across a wide range of wrist sizes. Front, back, and crown gaskets provide water resistance up to 50 meters, though we recommend removing the watch before engaging in water activities. Fully serviced and carefully tested, this piece is ready for its next adventure.
