Elgin National Watch Co. was in operation from 1864-1968 and was an American pocket watch manufacturer. Manufacturing of Elgin watches took place at their facility in Elgin, Illinois.

This Elgin timepiece features a flawless porcelain-enamel dial, free of chips or cracks, accented by a delicate light blue center and intricate inlay. The outer track displays minutes in five-minute increments, while the minute track elegantly frames the clean, curved numerals, creating a balanced and highly legible appearance. The original Louis XIV–style hands remain untouched in their warm golden finish, adding authentic character to the dial side. Beneath the dial beats Elgin’s 17-jewel Grade 321 movement, produced for only two years between 1904 and 1906, with this example completed in 1905. Just 14,500 examples of this grade were made, making it exceptionally rare considering Elgin produced upwards of 50 million timepieces during its 104-year history from 1864 to 1968. A true work of art, the movement features richly decorated ratchet and crown wheels alongside striking damaskeening. Every component was carefully refinished in our Little Rock, Arkansas, workshop. Blue accents were applied to the screws and steel hardware by hand over an alcohol lamp using a traditional open-flame technique that improves corrosion resistance while adding subtle visual contrast (read more here). The jewel chatons, gear train, balance, and balance weights were individually hand-polished to restore their original golden sheen. In the light, the raised jewel chatons glisten as the movement is viewed from different angles, making it a true visual delight.

The timepiece is housed in a our 316L surgical-grade stainless steel conversion case with adjustable lugs that make winding and setting effortless while ensuring a comfortable fit across a wide range of wrist sizes. Front, back, and crown gaskets provide water resistance up to 50 meters, though we recommend removing the watch before engaging in water activities. Fully serviced and carefully tested, this piece is ready for its next adventure.
