Hamilton Watch Co. was in operation from 1892-1969 and manufactured some of the highest end, most accurate watches ever produced. Manufacturing of Hamilton watches took place at their facility in Lancaster, Pennsylvania.
This Hamilton from 1924 has a feature we rarely see—a guilloché outer chapter ring finished in gilt. The inner portion of the dial is more traditional, even featuring a railroad-style minute track. However, once you reach the outer edge, the golden guilloché pattern is simply breathtaking. As light hits the dial from different angles, the intricate pattern glistens and comes alive, constantly changing with the light. The contrast between the inner portion of the dial and the elaborate golden outer chapter ring is incredible, making something as simple as checking the time a visual delight. Beneath the dial beats Hamilton’s Grade 902, one of the rare motor-barrel variants produced in this size. This 19-jewel in-house movement was manufactured for only a few short years between 1924 and 1928, with just 9,700 units made, making this example one of the first ever produced. The movement has been fully restored and refinished, with each screw and piece of hardware thermally blued by hand, a traditional technique that enhances corrosion resistance while adding beautiful visual contrast (read more here). The jewel settings, gear train, balance, and balance weights were individually hand polished to revive their original golden luster. The result is a timepiece that feels just as dynamic and captivating today as it did when it left the Hamilton factory more than a century ago.
The timepiece is encased in our 316L stainless steel conversion case, designed with adjustable lugs for ease in winding and setting, ensuring a tailored fit across various wrist sizes. The case includes front, back, and crown gaskets, providing water resistance up to 50 meters, though it is recommended to remove the watch before participating in water activities.
