Hamilton Watch Co. was in operation from 1892-1969 and manufactured some of the highest end, most accurate watches ever produced. Manufacturing of Hamilton watches took place at their facility in Lancaster, Pennsylvania.
This Hamilton timepiece was crafted in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, in 1928 and is powered by the 912 grade, a 17 jewel in house movement produced from 1923 to 1937. The movement has been carefully refinished with blue accents on the screws and hardware using precise hand applied thermal coloring performed over an alcohol lamp, a traditional watchmaking technique that improves corrosion resistance while adding contrast (read more here). Each jewel setting, gear train component, balance, and balance weight was individually hand polished to restore its original golden luster. The hands remain unrestored and retain their factory heat plum finish, a deep purple tone that offers a distinctly different look from traditional thermal blue. The original Hamilton metal dial is in exceptional condition and features a finely executed guilloché center. Arabic numerals sit just outside, while a minute track runs around the perimeter with bold markers every five minutes. The proportions of the dial are balanced and highly legible, giving the piece a clean, purposeful presence.
The timepiece is housed in a new 316L stainless steel wristwatch conversion case, designed with adjustable lugs for easy winding and setting, ensuring a comfortable fit across various wrist sizes. The case is equipped with front, back, and crown gaskets, providing water resistance up to 50 meters, although we recommend removing the watch before water activities. The watch is fully serviced and ready for your upcoming adventures.
