Hamilton Watch Co. was in operation from 1892-1969 and manufactured some of the highest end, most accurate watches ever produced. Manufacturing of Hamilton watches took place at their facility in Lancaster, Pennsylvania.
This Hamilton timepiece, crafted in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, and completed in 1948, is powered by the 917 grade—a 17-jewel in-house movement produced between 1936 and 1954. It exemplifies Hamilton's precision craftsmanship. The movement components were engineered to be antimagnetic by incorporating low iron content. As a result, we are unable to apply thermal coloring to the movement hardware, preserving its original appearance. The watch hands were not restored and remain in their original golden condition. The jewel settings, gear train, balance, and balance weights were each individually hand-polished to restore their original golden luster and sheen. The dial is in excellent condition, featuring stunning golden numerals that glisten beautifully in the light. It also bears the phrase “Ask the Man Who Owns One”—a slogan made famous by the American automaker Packard, which went out of business in 1956.
The timepiece is housed in a new 316L stainless steel wristwatch conversion case, designed with adjustable lugs for easy winding and setting, ensuring a comfortable fit across various wrist sizes. The case is equipped with front, back, and crown gaskets, providing water resistance up to 50 meters, although we recommend removing the watch before water activities. The watch is fully serviced and ready for your upcoming adventures.
