Hamilton Watch Co. was in operation from 1892-1969 and manufactured some of the highest end, most accurate watches ever produced. Manufacturing of Hamilton watches took place at their facility in Lancaster, Pennsylvania.
At the heart of this 1931 Hamilton timepiece is a striking solid-silver dial created in partnership with Packard—one of America’s most celebrated early automotive brands. Crafted from genuine silver rather than the brass or base metals commonly used at the time, this dial represents an ultra-luxury option seldom seen on American watches of the era. The centerpiece features the iconic Packard slogan “Ask the man who owns one” framed by bold numerals and a crisp minute track, while the “Hamilton” signature sits above the recessed sub-seconds dial, anchoring the design with classic balance. This dial is a rare crossover between two great American names, uniting the precision of Hamilton watchmaking with the prestige of Packard’s automotive heritage. Inside beats Hamilton’s Grade 918, a 19-jewel in-house caliber produced between 1928 and 1936. Fully restored and meticulously refinished, the movement showcases damaskeening and brilliant blue accents on screws and hardware—hand-applied using traditional thermal coloring (read more here). Jewel settings, gear train, balance, and balance weights were individually polished to recover their original golden luster, while the hands retain their original gilt finish that Hamilton applied at the time of manufacture.
The timepiece is housed in our 316L stainless steel conversion case, designed with adjustable lugs for easy winding and setting, ensuring a comfortable fit across various wrist sizes. The case is equipped with front, back, and crown gaskets, providing water resistance up to 50 meters, although we recommend removing the watch before water activities. The watch is fully serviced and ready for your upcoming adventures.
