Illinois Watch Co. was in operation from 1869-1948 and produced some of the most renowned railroad-grade movements ever manufactured. Watches were produced in their factory in Springfield, Illinois.
This Illinois timepiece was crafted in Springfield, Illinois, in 1928. It is powered by the legendary A. Lincoln grade, one of the highest-end Illinois movements we can convert into our 44 mm case. The movement is essentially a railroad chronometer in every way except size, featuring 21 jewels and the same level of finishing and construction found in Illinois’s finest railroad-grade watches. The A. Lincoln was produced by the Illinois Watch Company from 1907 through 1928, making this example one of the last ever produced. Every component was carefully restored and refinished in our workshop. The blue accents on the screws and steel hardware were achieved through precise open-flame thermal coloring using traditional watchmaking techniques (read more here). The jewel settings, gear train, balance, and balance weights were individually hand polished to restore their original golden luster and bring out the incredible finishing of the movement. The original Illinois dial remains in excellent condition and features an absolutely incredible, intricate guilloché pattern at the center. Bold, high-contrast Arabic numerals surround the dial in a classic railroad-style layout, creating a striking contrast against the detailed center while maintaining exceptional legibility.
The timepiece is encased in a 316L stainless steel conversion case, designed with adjustable lugs for easy winding and setting, ensuring a comfortable fit across various wrist sizes. The case includes front, back, and crown gaskets, providing water resistance up to 50 meters, though it is recommended to remove the watch before engaging in water activities. The timepiece comes fully serviced and ready for your next adventure.
