Illinois Watch Co. was in operation from 1869-1948 and produced some of the most renowned railroad-grade movements ever manufactured. Watches were produced in their factory in Springfield, Illinois.
This Illinois timepiece, crafted in Springfield, Illinois, was completed in 1926 and is particularly unique, as the dial is made of sterling silver (0.925). It features the Grade 274 movement—a 21-jewel caliber produced by Illinois from 1911 to 1926—making this one of the last ever produced. The movement has been meticulously restored, with the plates, jewel settings, gear train, balance, and balance weights all hand-polished to return them to their original condition. Special care was taken to preserve the damaskeening (Geneva stripes) and highlight the brilliance of the original golden jewel settings. The movement components remain otherwise unrestored, retaining the golden accents applied by Illinois at the time of manufacture. The watch hands are also unrestored, maintaining their original golden color. The sterling silver (0.925) dial looks absolutely incredible—it shines like no other metal dial we have come across. The silver provides a luster unlike anything else, and the guilloche motif at the center is stunning.
The timepiece is encased in a 316L stainless steel pocket watch conversion case, designed with adjustable lugs for easy winding and setting, ensuring a comfortable fit across various wrist sizes. The case includes front, back, and crown gaskets, providing water resistance up to 50 meters, though it is recommended to remove the watch before engaging in water activities. The timepiece comes fully serviced and ready for your future adventures.
