Illinois Watch Co. was in operation from 1869-1948 and produced some of the most renowned railroad-grade movements ever manufactured. Watches were produced in their factory in Springfield, Illinois.
This Illinois timepiece was crafted in Springfield, Illinois in 1923. It features the renowned 274-grade movement, a 21-jewel in-house caliber produced by Illinois from 1911 to 1926. The movement has been meticulously restored and serviced, with special care taken to preserve the original damaskeening (Geneva stripes) and the brilliance of the golden jewel settings. The movement components retain their original golden accents, which were applied by Illinois at the time of manufacture and are in excellent condition. The hands remain unrestored in their original heat-blued finish, pairing beautifully with the metal Illinois dial. The dial itself features an intricate guilloche motif at the center and bold numerals around the perimeter. Its near-flawless condition easily places it in the top 1% of all metal dials we encounter—almost as if it were new old stock. The untouched blued hands provide striking contrast against the dial, catching the light in a way that is simply stunning.
The timepiece is encased in a 316L surgical grade stainless steel conversion case, designed with adjustable lugs for easy winding and setting, ensuring a comfortable fit across various wrist sizes. The case includes front, back, and crown gaskets, providing water resistance up to 50 meters, though it is recommended to remove the watch before engaging in water activities. The timepiece comes fully serviced and ready for your future adventures.
