Illinois Watch Co. was in operation from 1869-1948 and produced some of the most renowned railroad-grade movements ever manufactured. Watches were produced in their factory in Springfield, Illinois.
If this dial does not stop you in your tracks, nothing will. This Illinois porcelain-enamel dial is a true one-of-a-kind find — the first flawless fancy-style Illinois dial we have ever seen that fits our 44 mm conversion case. It features golden inlay, elegant blue numerals with matching logo, and golden minute markers every five-minutes. Fancy dials from Illinois are exceedingly rare because the company moved almost entirely to metal dials in the early 1900s. This dial is absolutely flawless, and our team expertly cased it to highlight its elegance while preserving its perfection — a true showcase of our watchmaking prowess. Housed beneath the dial is an Illinois 405-grade movement, a 17-jewel in-house workhorse crafted by Illinois in Springfield, Illinois in 1925. Every component was meticulously hand-refinished with thermally blued screws and hardware — a traditional watchmaking technique that enhances corrosion resistance and elevates visual appeal (read more here). The jewel settings, gear train, balance, and balance weights were each hand-polished to bring back their original golden sheen. The hands themselves remain untouched, retaining the golden color Illinois applied at manufacture. Together, these details make this a singular example of Illinois design and precision, restored and presented for a new century of wear.
This rare Illinois timepiece is housed in our precision-engineered 316L stainless steel conversion case, built for both durability and comfort. Adjustable lugs allow effortless winding and setting while tailoring the fit to a wide range of wrist sizes. Front, back, and crown gaskets provide water resistance up to 50 meters (though we recommend removing the watch before water activities). Fully serviced and tested, this piece is ready to be worn and enjoyed for years to come.
