Founded in 1848 in Switzerland, Omega has become one of the world's best-known watch brands. Omega produced high-quality wristwatches during the 1950s, 60s, and 70s. Renowned for its precision and craftsmanship, Omega also created exquisite pocket watches in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, enhancing its reputation as a premier watchmaker.
This Omega timepiece was manufactured in Switzerland and completed in 1912. It was made specifically for the American market and features a rare American-style setting mechanism—one of the few Swiss movements we can actually convert. The watch is powered by a 15-jewel in-house Omega movement, a robust caliber the brand produced at the time. The movement includes beautifully decorated ratchet and crown wheels, along with a regulator on the balance. Every component has been meticulously refinished, with blue accents on the screws and hardware achieved through precise open-flame thermal coloring using traditional watchmaking techniques (read more here). The hands were not restored and remain in their original heat-blued condition. The jewel settings, gear train, balance, and balance weights were individually hand-polished to restore their original golden luster. The flawless Omega porcelain-enamel dial is designed with the traditional American railroad aesthetic to capitalize on that market. The dial is free of chips, cracks, or hairlines and features highly legible hour numerals with red minute markers around the perimeter. The heat-blued hands look exceptional against the textured surface.
The timepiece is encased in a 316L stainless steel wristwatch conversion case, designed with adjustable lugs for ease in winding and setting, ensuring a tailored fit across various wrist sizes. The case includes front, back, and crown gaskets, providing water resistance up to 50 meters, though it is recommended to remove the watch before participating in water activities. The timepiece comes fully serviced and ready for your upcoming adventures. Because of our dedication to preserving history, the timepiece also comes with its original 14-karat gold-filled pocket watch case, along with the bracket and screws necessary to fit the movement back into American pocket watch cases.
