23 jewel Illinois Sangamo Special with a Jeweled Motor Barrel from 1926

Illinois Watch Co. was in operation from 1869-1948 and produced some of the most renowned railroad-grade movements ever manufactured. Watches were produced in their factory in Springfield, Illinois.

This Illinois pocket watch was manufactured in Springfield, Illinois, and was finished in 1926. It is powered by the Sangamo Special movement, which is a 23 jewel Illinois in-house movement that was produced between 1923-1926 with only 11,200 ever manufactured. The movement features a gold gear train, gold jewel settings, ruby/sapphire jewels, and a jeweled motor barrel. The movement has been restored and refinished with vibrant blue accents. The accents were created through thermally treating each movement part by hand to color the iron based components, and the hands of the watch have been restored using the same thermal treatment process. The Illinois dial is double sunk, features Arabic numerals, and is in excellent condition. The watch is cased in the original Sangamo Special case that is 14k gold filled. This watch would make a great desk clock or daily carry and has been fully serviced for your next adventure.
