American Waltham Watch Co. was in operation from 1852-1957 and was an American pocket watch manufacturer. Manufacturing of Waltham watches took place at their facility in Waltham, Massachusetts.

The defining feature of this timepiece is its porcelain-enamel trench-style dial, a design reminiscent of the watches worn by officers during World War I. Crisp black Arabic numerals stand out sharply against the bright white enamel, delivering exceptional contrast and instant legibility. Original spade hands were carefully polished to a mirror finish to remove corrosion, then individually heat blued over an alcohol lamp to achieve an iridescent blue tone that contrasts beautifully with the enamel surface. Beneath the dial, the watch is powered by Waltham’s Grade No. 240 movement, a 17-jewel in-house caliber crafted in Waltham, Massachusetts and completed in 1898. This grade was produced for a short period between 1898 and 1900, with only 6,700 examples manufactured. Every movement component was meticulously refinished in our workshop. Screws and steel hardware received traditional open-flame thermal coloring, producing deep blue accents (read more here), while the jewel settings, gear train, balance, and balance weights were individually hand polished to restore their original warm golden luster. The result is a historically grounded timepiece that pairs exceptional dial clarity with meticulous mechanical restoration, honoring Waltham’s legacy while remaining fully wearable today.

The timepiece is encased in a 316L stainless steel conversion case, designed with adjustable lugs for easy winding and setting, ensuring a comfortable fit across various wrist sizes. The case includes front, back, and crown gaskets, providing water resistance up to 50 meters, though it is recommended to remove the watch before engaging in water activities. The timepiece comes fully serviced and ready for your next adventure.
