American Waltham Watch Co. was in operation from 1852-1957 and was an American pocket watch manufacturer. Manufacturing of Waltham watches took place at their facility in Waltham, Massachusetts.

This Waltham is powered by the PS Bartlett grade, a movement commonly found in larger formats but extraordinarily rare in this size, with just 3,700 ever produced. While the broader PS Bartlett run consisted primarily of nickel finished movements, only a small subset were produced with a full gilt finish and gilt hardware, making this example especially uncommon. This movement dates to 1912, the final year of production for the grade, which was manufactured from 1896 to 1912. The movement features an exposed mainspring barrel and a rich gilt finish adorned with elegant damaskeening, the engine turned pattern that gives the plates depth and movement in the light. Every surface was carefully restored by hand. The gear train, balance, and balance weights were individually polished to restore their warm golden brilliance. Screws and hardware remain gilt as finished by Waltham at the time of manufacture, and the arbor was thermally colored to a subtle plum tone to create visual continuity with the ruby jewels (read more here). The porcelain enamel railroad dial is flawless, with crisp Arabic numerals, vivid red minute markers around the perimeter, and a bold Waltham signature. Its balanced proportions and sharp detailing pair perfectly with the restored movement beneath. To complete the period correct aesthetic, the hands were re blued using slow, controlled thermal coloring, producing a deep, even tone that contrasts cleanly against the bright enamel surface. The result is a piece that fully embodies the precision, clarity, and presence of the railroad era.

The timepiece is housed in a surgical-grade 316L stainless steel conversion case with a 40 mm diameter—offering one of the best fits for any conversion available. The case includes both caseback and crown gaskets, providing water resistance up to 50 meters, though it is recommended to remove the watch before engaging in water activities. The watch comes fully serviced and ready for your next adventure.
