American Waltham Watch Co. was in operation from 1852-1957 and was an American pocket watch manufacturer. Manufacturing of Waltham watches took place at their facility in Waltham, Massachusetts.

This Waltham timepiece from 1913 features the iconic American railroad-style porcelain enamel dial, with crisp Arabic numerals, a sub-seconds register, and a minute track accented by red indices. The design follows the standards required for railroad use, reflecting a period in American watchmaking when precision and legibility were critical. Beneath the dial is the Waltham Riverside movement, a 19-jewel in-house caliber produced between 1895 and 1922 in Waltham Massachusetts. Every component has been meticulously refinished. Screws and steel hardware were thermally colored by hand over an open flame, producing deep blue accents that enhance both corrosion resistance and contrast (read more here). The original hands were polished to a mirror finish to remove corrosion, then heat blued in the same manner when originally manufactured. The jewel settings, gear train, balance, and balance weights were each individually hand polished to restore their original golden luster. The porcelain enamel dial remains in flawless condition, offering exceptional, railroad legibility.

The timepiece is encased in our 316L stainless steel conversion case, designed with adjustable lugs for easy winding and setting, ensuring a comfortable fit across various wrist sizes. The case includes front, back, and crown gaskets, providing water resistance up to 50 meters, though it is recommended to remove the watch before engaging in water activities. The timepiece comes fully serviced and ready for your next adventure.
